Cross-Country Skiing in Mill Creek Canyon

Located at 3800 South and Wasatch Boulevard, Mill Creek Canyon offers 4.5 miles of groomed trails for skating and classic skiing. Currently fees to enter Mill Creek Canyon are $3 a car per day and there are no additional usage fees for the ski trails. The trail is moderately difficult and rather steep at the start, but levels out towards the top of the trail. An additional non-groomed trail is located at Porter Fork and offers a killer uphill workout. Salt Lake County ordinance allows for dogs on the trail on odd numbered days. Mill Creek Canyon does not offer ski rentals, but the REI located close to the canyon bottom offers rentals at a very reasonable price.

Mountain Dell Recreation Area - Nordic Ski Trails

Located just off I-80 in Parley’s Canyon (approximately 6 miles from Salt Lake City), the Mountain Dell Recreation Area provides 7 kilometers of trails for both classic and skate skiing. The ski trails are solely maintained by volunteers of the Utah Nordic Alliance and are groomed daily and sometimes twice daily depending on the storm cycles. Day passes are available for a suggested $5 donation.
